Food for Thought!

I can not think of anything interesting to talk about except for food. I even had a swim workout today and sadly enough there was nothing interesting that happened. Or maybe that's a good thing. I guess I'd rather have nothing happen than have some creeper at the pool...(maybe a story for another time).

Now back to the subject at hand, which is of course food! I'm thinking there will probably be quite a few more posts this month about food, as it is a subject that can be talked about forever! I thought about sharing one of my favorite recipes for this post but perhaps I will just talk about some of the foods that I love and ones that I gag at!

As far as food groups, I'd say that fruit is my favorite. I can never have enough! Most of the time its apples, but that's probably because they are available all year long. One of my favorite fruits is the asian pear. They have nice juicy flesh and once you get down to the center they have a little bit of a sour flavor, which is my favorite part!

As far as vegetables go, I like most that I have come across. One that I particularly enjoy are sugar snap peas. I just looked these up to see if they were a vegetable (since I was not sure). Apparently, they are considered a fruit but in cooking they are considered a vegetable. So I'm just going to stick with the idea that they are a vegetable. What I love about these is that when you eat them they have such a sweet taste and a juicy crunch (best if eaten raw in my opinion).

One of my other favorite foods would probably be homemade bread. I love how fluffy it is compared to store bought bread. Plus, its fun to experiment in making different kinds of breads.

Now for foods that I can't stand. As a whole I do not like dairy products. They always make me feel bloaty and seem to create a lot of unnecessary mucous. Plus, most of the tastes and textures of dairy products are not that tasty or fun to eat. However, I can stand a few such as: cottage cheese (only eaten with potato), pepper jack cheese along with a select few other cheeses, and ice cream.

Another food that I do not care for would be octopus. I'm sure this is a popular disliked food. It's not that the taste was bad, but the texture was quite awful...so chewy!

I plan to travel in the next few years and will be sure to try new foods wherever I go. I'm sure there will be dishes that I will not enjoy and want to spit out the second I put it in my mouth, but then there will be ones that will be amazing and have to be added to my favorites list!

One that I would like to try is kimchi from South Korea.
